ELK Pitching for his first time in the Major Leagues

Yeah! It was a strike!!!

ADK Spring Band Conert

7th Grade Band. There were quite a few kids gone due to sickness and baseball games.

Jazz Band, These are the dedicated kids who love band. They practice at 7am before school starts. ADK loves Jazz band because the kids are there to learn.

ADK was the only trumpet player at this concert. He did a awesome job and even the band teacher committed on well he was doing since the other half of the trumpet section failed to show. There are only 2 trumpet players in Jazz Band this year. Andrew had a few solos but since he was the only one it really seamed like the whole concert was a solo for him.

There last selection was a song that highlighted trumpets. Mr. A played along with Andrew since it was highlighting Trumpets. He thought there should be more that one trumpet playing.

ELK's 10th Birthday

It's a box!!!

ELK and a few friends went bowling for his birthday party. They had a great time.

ELK's Chior Concert

Grove School Choir Concert was held Monday, May 4th in the Jack Williams Auditorium in MacHigh. The Concert was put on by the 4th and 5th grade classes.

ELK is on the right side of the photo. Can you see him?

ELK sang a solo and did an awesome performance. He was not nervous at all and at the of the performance the kids were giving him high fives as he went back to place in the stands. ELK looked like he sings in front of folks all the time.
Basin Street Blues
Won't-cha come a-long with me, to the Mis-sis-sip-pi?
We'll take the boat to the land of dreams,
steam down the riv-er down to New Or-leans;
The band's there to meet us, old friends there to greet us,
we'll see the place where the folks all meet:
Heav-en on earth, they call it Ba-sin Street.
The first three songs were Jazz tunes. They sang It's Gotta Be Jazz by John Jacobson/John Higgins, Route 66 by Bobby Troup and Basin Street Blues by Spencer Williams.
ELK sang the first solo in Basin Street Blues. The rest of the performance was a Patriotic Tribute to thank all those that have served our country. The group did a great job.

ADK's Baseball Season Opening game

ADK first game of the season was April 23rd at home on the Legion Field in Milton-Freewater. They were playing on of the Hermiston's teams. He plays for the Birch Creek team in Babe Ruth. They won there first game in a ten-run situation in 5 innings. ADK started the first inning in Right field.

ADK is having fun in Babe Ruth this year. They are able to lead off the base which he is loving.

ADK made a awesome catch in right field. It has a deep right center ball. Everyone in the stands did not think he would get it including his Dad. He sprinted and caught the ball. I was so in awe watching him that I did not get a picture of it. It was a great play to watch. He played the first three innings until another player was substituted in.

ELK's Baseball Season

It's a very busy time of year for us. Baseball, baseball, baseball is what life is about right now. Rick is coaching ELK's team this year. Itis the same team that ADK was on last year. This is ELKs first year in Major league baseball and also his first time Dad has been his coach. Les Schwab Team

ELK has done a great job with batting this year. Don't know what his average is but he has been up to bat 15 time and only stuck out 4 times so far. He has walked once and hit all the other times. Rick is very proud of how well he is batting this year in Majors with faster pitchers. It usually takes first years a while to get the swing of batting with faster pitchers.

Safe at home!!

Sliding into home on a wild pitch that got past the catcher.
