Learning how to show the pigs.

They guys are sorting out ELK and AD's pig so they can work with them.

The boys cousin JR is showing ELK where to tap the pig to make it move around the show ring.

The Jowl, which is the area under the lower jaw, is where you can tap the pig to make it move.

ADK is practicing walking with the pigs.

ELK learning a few more tips on how to control you pig.

Pigs were getting hot so we got them some water and they had fun playing in the water.

2010 Community Easter Egg Hunt

ELK's last year at the community Easter Egg Hunt. The past few years the Kiwanis Club has put on the

ELKn is heading out to get the golden egg. There were about 6 or so kids that went out for it and Evan came out of the pile holding the egg.
ELK got $5 golden dollars for the golden egg. Which he turned around and shared $2 of the dollars with two friends. I thought that was very nice of him.

Geocaching in the Gorge

We walked up the Deschutes River looking for a Goecache. The boys had fun playing on the log.

Got to love 14 year olds! Doesn't want his picture taken but it's OK to make funny faces in the background.

There was a cache near this waterfall. Short hike into the falls.

Elk, Once again ADK did not want to be in a photo.

ADK, If I have to be! ! ! !
But I am not going to smile.

Ditch burning party

Every February they shut the water off in the ditch for maintenance work. We take the opportunity to clean out the edges of the ditch, and our property. Normally we only spend on day doing it. This year has been above normal temperture in February that we have actually worked three weekends in the yard and burned each weekend.
This weekend we actually gutted out the Little League Concession stand and burned out the shelving material we tore out. We are in the process of putting new flooring and remodeling the concession stand.
I also burned up the last of the debris that we did not get done the other two burns. It was a beautiful evening to burn. I brought out the flood lamp and finished read one of my books and started a new one. Was a peacefully evening reading by the fire.
There was almost a full moon out.

Pig's

The boys are rasing pigs for 4H this year. This is our first time for the adventure.
Weekly the pig pen needs cleaning. There are 3 familys that are involved with the 4H group so we rotate three weeks for the cleaning chore. This ADK scooping the poop.
The pig on the right is ELK's pig.
ELK is task here is to keep the door barricaded off while ADK is presure washing the outside area of the pen. It is a workout for ELK to keep the pigs in.
The boys are raising Yorkshire Cross breed of pigs. ELK's is the only one with a black mark on the right side. Can't see it in this picture thou.
ADK scooping out the last little bit of poop and stuff hung up on the fence and pressure washing.
ELK is filling the feeder with garbonzo beans. That is the feed that they have the pigs on right how. At the rate the pigs are growning were are going to have to start a walking program to keep them below weight. We are going to start biweekly weigh in's to track the grown rate. They are difantely on the heavy side.
